I am shocked and appalled by this:
http://www.malwareurl.com/listing-urls.php?urls=on ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "Visiting them will automatically infect your computer" This is a FALSE statement! It implies that going to Paretologic.com will launch a drive-by download and infect your PC. This is a very serious thing to say without any proof. Such false accusations are not acceptable and damage our reputation. Whether this is a result of a lack of information, false positive or even worse, a personal attack against our company we will not tolerate such blatant false accusations. The site owners will be contacted shortly and given a chance to remove the erroneous data. Jerome Segura UPDATE:It appears that the site owners have removed our site and software promptly after contacting them. |

This is the price to pay. Paretologic have a business plan based on affiliates. You can't control what they wrote and communicate every where (personal paretologic dedicated blogs, twitter, Digg...)
I had a problem few years ago with a google ad saying remove smitfraudFix with xoftspy Using other tool names for its own communication is unethical. So is considered the mass communication traffic engendered by affiliates. Licensing a tool for full options (cleaning) from an infected computer is not a good idea anyway. |

Hi S!Ri,
This is the price to pay. Paretologic have a business plan based on affiliates. You can't control what they wrote and communicate every where (personal paretologic dedicated blogs, twitter, Digg...) You are right, it is one of the problems with affiliates. However, if our company is alerted about inappropriate behaviors, it can terminate the affiliate account (which we have done in the past). Also bear in mind that 'affiliate marketing' is a very popular sales channel that other security (and regular) companies also use. The reason? It works really well. I had a problem few years ago with a google ad saying remove smitfraudFix with xoftspy Using other tool names for its own communication is unethical. So is considered the mass communication traffic engendered by affiliates. Quite possible, again hard to monitor external communication. For your info, we currently detect a threat called SmitFraudFixTool (I believe it was a rogue off the legit SmitFraudfix). So, that one alone will also generate ad words--- in a legit way--- right? Licensing a tool for full options (cleaning) from an infected computer is not a good idea anyway. You are referring to the "free scan" model. Once again, it is a marketing plan and although some people do not like it at all, it is used by many legit companies. The bottom line is you can't please everybody. However, we offer our customers with outstanding tech support that many companies do not provide for free. Anyway, I appreciate the comments and understand your point of view. Jerome |

No, it was in 2006. SmitFraudFixTool does not exist at this time. See the problem. This ad was the same "name-hijack" used by SmitFraudFixTool rogue. When you are shocked about rogue classification, you are not shocked by the bad image the affiliates give of ParetoLogic. You are referring to the "free scan" model. Once again, it is a marketing plan and although some people do not like it at all, it is used by many legit companies. Doing the same "stupid things" as others do is not the good answer. For security purpose you certainly know where the danger is. |

Fair enough about the smifraudfix ad word.
I won't answer the call about the affiliates as I am not in charge. However, I did report once an affiliate that was caught in our honeypots and whose domain was registered by ESTDomains. I brought the issue to the executives and explained why this was not acceptable raising a big red flag. Very quickly the affiliate account was suspended. I invite you to warn us if you notice such bad practices. I can guarantee you that we will take a hard look at it. Thanks S!Ri. |
